NEXRAD ANOMALY: HIGH BIRDS / BIRD MIGRATION

Just as NEXRAD can pick up low-level bird activity, so can
it pick up mass bird migrations higher in the atmosphere.
According to BirdCast (link below), you will often see this anomaly start near the radar
site as birds take flight and will grow to encompass much of the surrounding area. Such
bird migration can be seen up to 64 nautical miles from the radar site though atmospheric
conditions can sometimes cause the migration to be seen to the edge of the radar's
range.
Presumably these types of anomalies would be seasonal and coincide with local bird
migration.
